I’m sitting here writing this at 5:00 in the morning. Have been awake since 2:00, with the mind occupied by problems (yes, Piotr, I am willing to call them problems!) with a client. Ironic, since the environment we’re looking at this week is the Self environment – covering health, talents, and habits. Lack of sleep is certainly not doing my health any good. Nor is it doing the client and its problems any good. But this gives me something to work on this week!
We’re getting more personal this week. Decluttering our digital and physical environments isn’t so demanding. We develop attachments to the way things are, making it difficult to make changes. However, after all, digital and physical items are inanimate – they are totally indifferent to what we do with them. And these items can be dealt with quickly. But Self? That’s a different story – we directly react and respond to this environment and it likely will take some time to create a more desirable environment. Let’s take a closer look:
Examining our attitudes towards health, talents, and habits is crucial for personal growth and overall happiness. Our mindset in this Self environment significantly impacts our daily lives and long-term well-being.
- Our attitude towards health determines the choices we make regarding diet, exercise, and self-care. A winning Self environment leads to a healthier and more energetic life.
- Our perception of our talents can either limit or unleash our potential. When our environment leverages our talents, new opportunities open up and confidence increases.
- Our habits shape our daily routines and, ultimately, our success. As Hale made clear in her workshop, developing supportive habits creates more productive and fulfilling lives.
For this week’s challenge, I invite you to examine one of these areas of your life and set the intention to do some decluttering of your Self environment. Some questions you may ask yourself:
- What’s extra or not serving me well? For example, too many sweets, too much focus on a ‘talent’ that really isn’t a strength, routines that don’t add value
- What’s broken? For example, medical issues that need attention, key item needed for talent or habit
- What’s missing? For example, healthy snacks in the fridge, opportunities to express talents, reward for good habits
Exploring and examining our views on health, talents and habits are essential steps in creating a supportive Self environment. The Self is one environment we cannot escape from, so why not invest some effort in designing and creating one that is winning?!
Here’s to a winning, more harmonious Self environment!
